1. Paste the article URL

PaywallUnlock accepts ordinary HTTP and HTTPS links. Common advertising and social tracking parameters are removed so archive providers receive the cleaner canonical address.

2. Check archive availability

The service asks the Internet Archive availability endpoint whether a nearby Wayback snapshot exists. If one is returned, it becomes a direct option. If not, the full capture calendar remains available.

3. Build alternate routes

We generate Archive.ph and web-search routes for the same URL. These can surface older captures, syndicated copies, quoted versions, or other publicly indexed pages.

4. You choose the destination

Results open on the independent archive, search engine, or original publisher. PaywallUnlock does not reproduce the article inside its own database.

Availability varies

Some pages are never archived, some archives block particular domains, and some snapshots are incomplete. Try the numbered options in order when the first route fails.
